Avery Barnett is a construction and civil litigation lawyer in Kelowna, British Columbia. Avery offers legal services to construction clients at all stages of a project, from drafting and reviewing contract or tender documents to dispute resolution. Avery primarily represents industry-side clients such as contractors, subtrades, suppliers, certified professionals and consultants.
Before joining Pihl Law, Avery worked for a construction company in the South Okanagan. Avery’s prior work experience focused primarily on custom residential new construction and commercial construction work for wineries. His work experience included contract negotiation and administration, project operations, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.
Avery has experience in builders’ lien claims, delay and deficiency claims, and breach of contract claims. Avery has worked on a wide variety of cases in both the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia. Outside of court, Avery assists clients with the negotiation, preparation, and administration of construction contracts. He also advises on business development opportunities and risk management strategies within the construction industry.
In addition to construction law, Avery works and has experience on a broad range of civil and commercial litigation matters including real estate, property, commercial contract, and shareholder disputes
Outside of work, Avery enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.
